Meet Brian

Healthy, loving relationship is the soil in which we grow and thrive. Sometimes, despite our good intentions and best efforts, we find ourselves stuck in coping and relationship patterns that hurt more than help. As a parent, child, spouse, or otherwise, hurtful patterns need not rule your life and relationships. With some help in understanding what you are experiencing and core values, desires, and needs, you can come to see your life, self, and relationships in a new light and find happier, healthier ways of living, loving, and being with others and yourself.

Framework

I’ve worked with teens, parents, individuals, families, and couples for the past four years, helping them to find healthier, more authentic and fulfilling ways of living, communicating, and loving themselves and each other. I operate through the lenses of attachment theory and developmental theory with an integrative, experiential, and emotionally focused approach. I enjoy creatively applying various therapy approaches and tools according to a client’s needs and goals to make therapy more engaging and effective. To journey with you down the path of discovery and transformation would be a privilege.

Education

Brian completed a Master’s of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) and is registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCC). Whether working with individuals, families and couples, Brian works through a systemic approach and the lens of attachment theory as well as the bilateral integrative function of the human brain. He has worked with clients struggling with chronic stressors, childhood traumas, and dysfunctional family and relational patterns and systems.

Brian enjoys working with teens and adults, couples, and families. He has worked with ‘at risk’ youth and their parents for the past four years in individual, group, and family counselling. His work has deep familiarity with the challenges that teens, families, and couples face in our modern and inner-city context. As an avid outdoorsman and kayak guide and having a background in the sciences, philosophy, and theology, Brian connects well with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
