Experience Change Counselling

Individual Counselling

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone wanting to experience change. If you are wanting to resolve the impacts of past experiences, change patterns that aren’t working for you anymore, or better understand what is getting in the way of your best self, individual counselling sessions can be a safe and intentional time to dig deeper.

Decisions we make are often influenced by our past. Our relationships with our families, how our parents treated us, our experiences in school, early traumatic events, and birth order are just a few examples of what shapes our worldview. Past events can unknowingly influence how we see ourselves, others and the world and shapes our unconscious beliefs, expectations, and feelings. When we have had difficult experiences we learn to protect ourselves in subtle and powerful ways. Over time these ways of protecting ourselves can make life difficult for ourselves and others.

Are you making the same decisions over and over? Do you date the same type of person, have similar relationship issues surface over time, change jobs often, end friendships in a way that leaves a bad taste in your mouth, or have you cut people out of your life along the way? Patterns that surface can take years to identify and it can be very difficult to know how to choose something different when you do.

In counselling you and your counsellor will identify current issues that are often connected to past experiences and help you see new possibilities and how to move forward. Instead of staying stuck in old patterns of protection and coping you will be able to resolve past hurts and live from your core values. By exploring life’s impacts, you will be able to refocus internal experiences leading to external change.
